On the one hand, Memorial Day weekend will bring Americans the chance to celebrate life with our families and friends. Likewise, the families here at ER Optics see Memorial Day as the beginning of the summer season. However, we know there is more to this time. It is a sacred holiday.
Originally society set up Memorial Day just to give us time to decorate the graves of our honored military dead.
“It is the first big holiday of the summer.” And it is filled with barbeques, festivals, park picnics, and backyard cook-outs.
Here in our part of the world, we will see gatherings on riverbanks, getaways to our beaches, and staycation parties in our own backyards. Thus, we commemorate our freedom fighters. However, we also celebrate them by enjoying the freedom they won.
Memorial Day 2022 Commemorates our Honored Military Dead
Moreover, there will also be parades, speeches, and commemorative ceremonies personalized for the fallen military. In every cemetery in America, we will see flags streaming. And families will place flowers on the graves of the people who died in battle. Briefly, we will hear the songs and stories of patriotism, war, and heroism.
You see, there in between all the fun, friends, family, and food, we all know it is really time to remember our heroic soldiers. And here at ER Optics, we realize that freedom is not really free.

1. Firstly, Celebrate a Tradition of Courage: After your celebratory outing, this is a good weekend to watch a John Wayne movie, if you haven’t seen one lately! (…or even if you have…) Alternatively, update yourself with a look at our early history in Mel Gibson’s “The Patriot.”
2. Give a “Thank You for Your Service.” Give your best wishes to someone whose family member or friend has performed the ultimate act of heroism. Additionally, if you see any living soldiers, be sure to thank them for their service.
